My sister was recently beaten by her husband, what should she do in this case? I wanted to go and sort it out myself, but my sister said it was better to do everything by law and punish the husband according to the law.

You both don't need to worry to begin with, if I were you I would comfort your sister and cheer her up somehow. And then take action. The first thing you need to do is to call a lawyer who can help you. Ottawa Criminal Lawyers once helped me in a similar situation. I didn't know what to do or where to go, but one call to a lawyer helped me, he told me step by step what to do and how to proceed. So I think you need to do the same thing, your lawyer will gather evidence of your sister's husband's guilt and the law will punish him.
